Bring It All Together With Bento

by Juan on January 6th, 2008

From FileMaker comes Bento, the new personal database for the Mac. Our lives personal lives are getting more and more complicated. Lots of people that you meet, either in business or from friends that it’s hard to keep track of who’s who. Apart from that we find ourselves doing more stuff. We have small businesses on the side, personal projects, everyday tasks, etc that it’s hard to manage our lives.

Well Bento wants to help you with your contacts, projects tasks and other things. It wants to help you the Mac way and that means making things easy and simple to use.

Bento geared more towards personal organization and productivity. It does not have the robust features that FileMaker Pro but it’s much more easy to use. For personal stuff it’s also a better option since most users won’t have the time and patience to master FileMaker Pro. So Bento’s drag and drop simplicity makes it a great tool.

Some of the great features of Bento are the ready made templates and themes plus it links directly to OS X’s Address Book and iCal. Giving you flexibility to use those other apps and still sync with Bento.

One of the things I don’t like about Bento is that it’s made for Leopard. So OS X Tiger users and below won’t be able to use it. While I understand that most of Bento’s functions make use of Leopards core features I still wish that it was backwards compatible.

So if you’re on Leopard, give Bento a try and see if it can help you organize your life. There’s a preview available for download now. Get it here.
