Because the iPod naming scheme seems to work (iPod, mini, nano), rumors have been circulating that Apple will be using the same naming conventions for their portables. First in line was the high end MacBook Pro, which replaced the Powerbook. Apple communities are predicting that the next announcement will consist of the MacBook, which may be available in iPod nano white or black.

Still as brazened as ever, touch screen patents suggest a MacBook mini which will be the equivalent of the Tablet PC or a competitor to Microsoft’s Origami.

Following this naming scheme leaves you with the last niche iPod product which may very well pave the way for the most innovative move in mobile computing:

+ = ?

MacBook shuffle anyone?

Some notable features would include:

- no screen allows mobile PC users the ability to use their imagination and “Think Different”

- USB-powered portable computer dongle that plugs to an existing Mac, loading iTunes, iPhoto and other settings

- “random” mode that opens a random application, which really wouldn’t matter since you can’t see anything anyway
