The Mac Gets Bigger
BusinessWeek reports that Apple had a record breaking quarterly sales. Unlike the previous quarters though, the Mac was the star. The past quarter saw Apple selling 1.61 million Macs. More than any other quarter. Out of that 1.61 million, 986,000 of those were portables.
It looks like Apple’s growth is just poised to grow. With a Best Buy deal done, the next year could see more and more Best Buy stores carrying the Apple brand. This would increase Apple’s retail footprint by 10% according to BusinessWeek.
So, in line with my recent post I asked, are the incidence of defective Apple products a sign of declining quality or is it just because more Macs are sold, therefore the incidence of defects rise as well? With these sales figures, I’m begninning to think it’s because more and more Macs are making it to the market therefore we hear more and more incidences of defects. Maybe it’s a little of both.
Either way, Apple and Macs like what BusinessWeek says has broken out of the niche market and is now poised to make a run with the big boys. Apple has Gateway already in their sights..
