September Special Event

According to MacNN, Apple has confirmed that it will hold a special event on September 5. The words written on the invitation reads “The beat goes on”. The artwork is similar to Coverflow. This invitation says several things.

First, the Coverflow type artwork suggests that this has something to do with music. What comes to mind when music is mentioned? iPods of course. It’s been almost 2 years since the iPod has been updated. Sure it received an incremental update but it was just minor hardware and software upgrades. The iPod is due for replacement.

Appleinsider also states that the tagline “The beat goes on” might have been inspired by the press release that the Beatles sent out when they split up on April 10, 1970. This may also mark the release of the Beatles catalog on iTunes. This has long been speculated and should have been done a long time ago.

I do hope that Apple releases new iPods. I hope that it has the same interface as the iPhone. I hope it has WiFi and can connect to the internet and browse with the same Mobile Safari browser as the iPhone. It should also be reasonably priced.

Some say that new iPod Nano’s are also set to be released. I’m still undecided about this one.

Mark your calendars. Sept 5th might be another day that the wallet will be a little lighter.
