Keeping Your Mac Safe

by Juan on April 18th, 2008

While the Mac platform seems to be more secure than the Windows platform, that’s no reason for Mac users to be complacent. No system is 100% secure. So taking steps to ensure that your computer remains secure will go a long way.

Ars Technica has an article which lists steps that you can take to make sure that your Mac is secure. Not all the steps are applicable to all users. It really depends on who you are and what type of user you are. Some of the suggestions are really common sense and that we just often neglect to do so. Something as simple as putting a password on you screensaver will go a long ways, especially if you work in an office and if you leave your computer frequently. You don’t want people snooping around your files now do you?

While File Vault seems to be good in concept, I agree with the author of the Ars Technica article. I’m not completely sold on it, hence I don’t really use File Vault.

Check out the article and secure your Mac now.
