Keeping it Fresh
![]()
One of my major headaches is keeping my apps updated. Now my Apple made software are fine since I have Software Update for that. However for the rest, I’m left to fend for myself. Sure some apps do let you know if there’s a new version, there’s also Version Tracker.
However I’m really lazy when it comes to updating software. I hate looking at the developer’s site just to check if a new version has been released. I also hate downloading, extracting then installing. I just want it to be as simple as Software Update. It tells you it’s there, downloads it for you, extracts it, installs it. I just need to say yes and type in my password. Simple.
Well, a new app promises to do that. It’s still in beta though. AppFresh is being developed by Jonas Witt of Metaquark.de. It keeps your Mac up to date by checking the internet for the latest versions of your applications. It also makes downloading and installing a simple process. This is Software Update for the rest of your apps.
Right now it will just download and extract the updates to your desktop. It won’t overwrite your apps as a saftey measure.
Can’t wait for this to become a stable version!
