iTunes Plus and iTunes U
Apple has just launched two new features of iTunes. The iTunes Plus and iTunes U.
iTunes Plus allows people to download DRM free music tracks at a higher quality. The DRM free tracks are encoded in 256 kbps AAC files. Apple says that these recordings are virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings. Each track will cost $1.29. Initially Apple will be only offering tracks from EMI whose artists are Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, Norah Jones, Frank Sinatra, Joss Stone, Pink Floyd, John Coltrane just to name a few. Apart from these artists, for the first time more than a dozen of Paul McCartney’s albums will be made available via iTunes.
iTunes U is a section of iTunes that offers free lectures, language lessons and other educational materials. These are provided by leading universities such as Stanford University, UC Berkley, Duke University and MIT. Further improving on Apple’s commitment to education. Apple makes it easier for people to gain access to learnings from great educational institutions that would otherwise be impossible to get. This is truly an innovative way to help educate people.
